Keyboard Shortcuts ✂️

I am sure that a lot of us out here spend a lot of time on our keyboards surfing, learning, working, opening/closing tabs, and doing lots of incredible and innovative stuff. Here are a few keyboard shortcuts that can lighten up your work without having to look for the mouse or trackpad.

1. Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y
   • Ctrl Z: Undo. It undoes the last change that you’ve made on your screen.
   • Ctrl Y: Redo. It redoes the last change, the exact opposite of Ctrl + Z.
2. Ctrl + A
   • Overall select. It selects all the content on a particular page or screen. You can try selecting this article 😉
3. Alt-Tab
   • It helps in changing from window to window using only keys. You can shift to the next and next windows by consecutively pressing this combination.
4. Alt F4
   • It helps in closing the window that you are working on. And if there is no window open, it opens up the shutting down screen. And with pressing an Enter after Alt F4, you will find your computer shutting down.
5. Ctrl-Tab and Ctrl-Shift-Tab
   • Ctrl Tab: It helps in shifting tabs within the same window, left to right (forward)
   • Ctrl Shift Tab: It helps in shifting tabs within the window, right to left (backward)
6. Ctrl + W
   • It closes down the currently operating window.
7. Ctrl -Shift + T
   • It restores the last closed window. Useful in times when you’ve accidentally closed a window.
8. Window 🪟 + D
   • It shows or hides the desktop depending on whether the desktop is already on display.
9. Window 🪟 + L
   • It locks your screen. If you’re going out on a quick job and want to lock or log out of your computer asap, this combination works well.
10. Window 🪟 + I
    • It opens the settings window. Want to quickly fix something about your computer? Go for it!
11. Spacebar and Shift + Spacebar
    • Spacebar: It helps you slide down your screen without using a mouse.
    • Shift + Spacebar: It helps you slide up the page.
12. A few function keys
    • F2: Rename files. Highlight any file and click F2, you can automatically start renaming the file.
    • F5: Refresh. Click F5 and you can see the present page reloading with the click of a key.

PS: If your function keys have other external functions assigned to them (such as volume and brightness controls) make sure you use the fn key while using these function row keys for shortcuts.
